At Long Island Speech and Feeding Therapy, we take a comprehensive approach to evaluating your child’s feeding abilities and identifying the cause of their feeding disorder. Our goal is to create a personalized and holistic plan that helps your child eat safely and independently, and enjoy mealtimes once again. Our Speech-Language Pathologist specializing in feeding disorders, will assess, identify, plan, and implement your child’s feeding therapy program to help them develop the necessary skills to overcome their feeding challenges.

Our therapy sessions are conducted in the child’s natural environment, which is helpful for the child to carry over the oral motor and sensory skills worked on during therapy. At Long Island Speech and Feeding Therapy, our treatment approach is family-centered, taking into account the stress that feeding disorders have on the family.

We encourage parents to participate in feeding therapy sessions and learn to help carry over the skills targeted in treatment. Our therapist uses a variety of different treatment approaches to target the sensory, oral motor, and behavioral components related to feeding difficulties in the pediatric population. We specialize in child-centered intervention for:

  • Difficulty with breastfeeding
  • Medical diagnosis (gastroesophageal reflux, cardiac conditions, pulmonary conditions)
  • Oral aversions
  • Bottle refusal
  • Difficulty transitioning from puree to solid foods
